June 2007

This month is filled with birthdays in our family: Grandpa Lee, Grandpa Rytting, and Rick (not to mention many siblings and cousins, too). Grandpa Lee sure was surprised when all of his kids and grandkids showed up in Idaho to celebrate his 60th birthday. We stayed at Aunt Stephanie's house. We sure had a hard time dragging Lexie out of the sandbox. Here's Grandpa Lee with most of his grandkids. Here's Rick with his parents and siblings.

Here's our family picture. Last one until we have our baby boy! And I just love this picture of my  Joseph. He is so grown up and just a cheese! Love it!

May 2007

We begin with a visit from our friendly neighborhood bomb squad. Should we be concerned with this in our backyard? Our chilly ducklings after bathtime.Joseph really loves to play dress-up. For some reason he had trouble hearing Dad when he was describing his "new" outfit. We couldn't tell what he was more excited about...his new big boy underwear or his sombrero. "Thanks for the big hat, Grandma Rytting!"

April 2007

Joseph turned 2! We sure love him and cannot believe how quickly he is growing and learning! He wanted a train cake so after some researching and a couple of trips down the candy aisle, here is the finished product:
Joseph was really surprised. We put it together and decorated while he napped. We should have snapped a picture of when he first saw it, but it looked something like this:

Joseph enjoyed his CO cousins coming over for his party.

We also sold our truck. Rick was a little sad to see it go, but the kids had a good time saying goodbye to "Daddy's white truck."

March 2007

In March we flew to Kansas (Joseph's last free trip before turning 2). The kids always love playing with cousin Joey and seeing Grandma and Grandpa Rytting.
We also moved Joseph from his crib to a big bed, so we got the kids new bedding to help make the transition a little smoother.

They didn't like their new beds at all...

February 2007

We had a fun trip to San Diego with Rick's parents.

On the 22nd we went to the San Diego Zoo. We went on the bus tour first and we all got our hands stamped. Joseph was so excited-on the tour he would proudly show his hand to each animal and say, "See my stamp!"

This is us with the panda at the zoo. The next day we went to Sea World, or the Water Zoo as they liked to call it. They loved feeding the dolphins. They also got to feed the sting rays, but Lexie was a little more scared of them. We got to have lunch with Shamu and that was an awesome experience. It was fun to eat a good lunch while learning about the whales from their trainers and having them swim so close to us. They had some really great shows and lots of hands on exhibits. Our last day we explored the Wild Animal Park. Joseph's favorite part was the train ride around the park where we got to see most of the animals out in the "wild". Lexie's favorite part was seeing the giraffes.

January 2007

We thought we would start with some highlights of the year.

January:
started off nicely with the Fiesta Bowl. Boise State had an amazing game against Oklahoma. The kids sure loved it. Still today, when they really don't want to go to bed they say, "Can we pop popcorn, and watch football and say 'Touchdown!'?" Melts Rick's heart everytime. How can you say no to that?

In the beginning...

We have finally entered the 21st century... here is our family blog. I hope this will be a nice way for everyone to read about our family happenings, post some pictures, keep in touch with friends and family a little bit better, and perhaps make you laugh along the way. Enjoy!
